Moderation

A public vote board lives or dies on this, so it is written down rather than left to judgement.

Who decides

We do — not the company whose board it is. A verified team can flag a post, and flags from a verified team are looked at first, but the decision is not theirs. That separation is the whole reason a company can be trusted to claim a board without the board becoming an advert.

What a claimed team can do

  • Reply officially, and pin that reply.
  • Move a status, with a note.
  • Merge two requests that are the same request.
  • Decline a request, with a reason that stays public.
  • Flag a post for review.

What a claimed team cannot do

  • Delete a request, or edit anybody's words.
  • Hide, reset or edit a vote count.
  • Remove a decline reason once it is posted.
  • Stop somebody following the board.

Appeals

If something of yours is removed you are told which rule it broke and you can reply to that message. A second person looks at any appeal, and appeals are answered within five working days.

When a claim is disputed

A board is verified against a domain. If someone else proves control of the same domain we contact both parties and the badge comes off until it is settled. Verification lapses if the DNS record is removed.
